Notes:

Federal and provincial sales tax in Québec add up to 16% on top of prices paid.

For internet orders from the US, the same duties are levied by customs before the orders are delivered, so the 16% still applies. This is also the case when picking up an order sent to a friend in the US and transported across the border.

The prices for the lights and associated cables (the highest expense) differed greatly across websites. Shipping for the cables is expensive, while shipping for the lights is free within the US. I’ll have to find a way to pick them up and bring them to Montreal, and duties will surely be levied then.

Transport from Montreal to the playa and back is based on actual expenses incurred by Midnight Poutine camp for the past two years. This number may be very different by August, but remains a good estimate.

Shipping charges were estimated for the various sourcing websites, and only included for one line item. “incl already” is for other line items coming from the same supplier. “local” means there’s no shipping charge.
